National Seminar on Citizenship Amendment Act

The Department of International Law held a National Seminar titled "Citizenship Amendment Act- Human Rights, Constitution, and Democratic Principles" on April 16th, 2024, at the New Moot Court Hall. Justice Chandru, a former Madras High Court judge, led the discussion on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) from the perspectives of human rights, international law, and refugees. The seminar also featured presentations by legal professionals Adv. Sumithra Chakkaravarthy, Adv. Basheer, and social activist Adv. P Neelavathi. These presentations explored various aspects of the CAA, its practical implementation, and its merits and demerits in the context of human rights and constitutional law. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Tancy Sebastian and Mr. Blaise Joseph, Assistant Professors at Saveetha School of Law.
